Service Excellence in IT

Every organisation aims for a high quality of IT services. This is easier said than done. Lots of organisations struggle to keep their end users happy. Especially since the direct and indirect costs associated with unhappy customers and lost production hours are enormous. \'The Wow factor\' is a book on service excellence in IT. It explains how to improve on the quality of IT services and to save money at the same time.

Trends & IT 2009: Back to Basics

Theoretically, innovative IT can contribute to more efficient industrial processes, which will result in savings within diverse areas. Theory, however, gets lost in practice when the economic tide is going out. More than 160 IT managers within the DigitalBoardroom community have participated in our annual IT Trend survey. The answers were surprisingly unambiguous.

Time Hire Benchmark IT

Comparison of staff hiring costs in the Netherlands

Early 2008 Giarte has conducted a comparative study of the cost of hiring IT staff from external suppliers. The annual benchmark provides a detailed picture of the rates paid by organisations in the Dutch market. The total benchmark database contains the purchasing data of 25 midsize and large organisations with a total a purchasing volume of over one billion euros for the year 2007 alone.

Detailed insight
Every participant received detailed and personalised reports comparing the prices paid by the participant with the prices paid by the whole benchmark group. For 21 IT-jobs (including SAP consultants) the average prices were calculated including breakdowns for work experience, contract duration and type of supplier. The data allows organisations to establish if their suppliers (still) charge prices that are in line with the market. The benchmark shows the efficiency of procurement and calculates the possible savings.

Rate development
One of the new features of this years edition of the benchmark was the detailed insight into the development of rates compared to last year. Rates have risen sharply the last year, but not for every job. The increases in rates are highly dependent on the type of job and even the work experience. With the detailed information the Time Hire Benchmark provides, organisations can stay in tune with market developments and fine tune their procurement.

Advantages Time Hire Benchmark
  • Insight into current prices that peers pay for common jobs
  • Direct comparison with prices a company itself pays
  • Company’s own job classification is easy to translate into a basic job set
  • Figures broken down according to work experience and type of supplier
  • Clarification of the effect of multiple variables on price
  • Direct calculation of possible savings

Participation is easy
As a participant, you receive a detailed explanation of how to provide the data. Each participant in the benchmark study provides their purchasing data as an Excel file. All the basic information on hiring transactions is kept in administrative purchasing systems. Experience shows that it takes a purchasing assistant less than a day to prepare the information required for accurate benchmark processing. You can always contact us should you have any questions.
