Service Excellence in IT

Every organisation aims for a high quality of IT services. This is easier said than done. Lots of organisations struggle to keep their end users happy. Especially since the direct and indirect costs associated with unhappy customers and lost production hours are enormous. \'The Wow factor\' is a book on service excellence in IT. It explains how to improve on the quality of IT services and to save money at the same time.

Trends & IT 2009: Back to Basics

Theoretically, innovative IT can contribute to more efficient industrial processes, which will result in savings within diverse areas. Theory, however, gets lost in practice when the economic tide is going out. More than 160 IT managers within the DigitalBoardroom community have participated in our annual IT Trend survey. The answers were surprisingly unambiguous.

IT positions in 2008

The annual trend survey within the DigitalBoardroom community has investigated the areas where IT organisations are likely to experience new positions for the coming year 2008. Like last year, most organisations expect new vacancies in the field of business and IT analysis and project management. Two third of the participating organisations expect open positions regarding analysis, and forty-four per cent of the organisations expect that some of these vacancies might actually be hard to fill.

Surprisingly, the percentage of organisations that think they will recruit new hires in the area of demand and vendor management, quadrupled compared to last year’s survey. Forty per cent of the participants expect their organisations to have vacancies in this area. This trend is in line with the results of Giarte’s study Outsourcing Performance, which showed an increased activity within organisations to strengthen demand management. The reality of multi sourcing environments strengthens the need for new approaches to managing external vendors. To optimise the performance of multiple vendors, organisations invest in vendor management and related governance skills.
